Allocations for the 2024-25 School Year

During the 2024-25 school year, the Foundation raised funds gifted to the Walton administration to hire additional teachers and reduce class sizes. Thanks to the generosity of the parent community, funds are secured a year in advance to hire for the following school year. Each spring and summer, the Walton administration determines the best allocation to reduce class sizes and support student educational needs. Additionally, we raise funds support various ongoing projects for campus enhancement and community growth.

Thank you all for your generous donations!  Below is a summary of the allocation of funds from the 2024-25 Foundation Campaign for Walton High School.

  • The Foundation provided funds to hire a full-time English teacher, and a part-time counselor specializing in 504 needs.  Both staff hired excel in their respective specialty areas, bringing master degrees in education as well as years of experience in highly ranked secondary schools.
  • The Foundation revitalized the campus’s memorial gardens. Irrigation updates were made to the front memorial beds to support planned landscaping. New plantings in dedicated ceramic pots highlight the Walton entrance. The developed landscaping was then expanded to incorporate quiescent planting beds.
  • The Foundation worked with our generous donor Leslie McLeod on the Dr. Hugh McLeod memorial garden adjacent to the cafe and engaged the county to replace the memorial plaque. Investments were made to power-wash the pergolas and walking paths, with new plants and mulch placed to maintain the beauty of this respite for our students.
  • We purchased hand sanitizer refills for the stations that are located throughout the campus as needed.
  • We provided funds to support Call to Conversation sessions. These discussion groups provide a student forum to discuss various issues that arise throughout the year with administrative leaders.
  • We hosted the quarterly Coffee Chat with the Principal for Foundation donors to meet with our principal in a small group setting. School safety, strategic educational endeavors, and community relationship building were some of the topics discussed.
  • We provided teacher/staff luncheons to support and celebrate our wonderful teachers/staff.
  • We funded various teacher grants through your Publix and Kroger rewards programs, an initiative begun and primarily funded through a generous anonymous donor. This year we funded 27 teachers (14 during the fall semester and 17 during the spring.) These teachers represented 9 different departments at Walton, and degrees earned included M.Ed., Ed.S, and Ed.D. Grants extend $500 to each awarded applicant per semester of enrollment, and $1000 upon degree completion.
  • We hosted a rising 9th grade tour for donor families of the 2029!
  • We provided capital support for the installation of a new jumbotron in Raider Valley. The project received major support from the booster club community as well as a private donor.

Allocations for the 2023-24 School Year

During the 2023-24 school year, the Foundation raised funds to enable the Walton Administration to hire additional teachers and reduce class sizes. A significant portion of our contributions is dedicated to hiring teachers; therefore, we must fundraise a year in advance to ensure teachers can be hired for the following school year. Each spring and summer, the Walton Administration determines the best allocation of Foundation funds to reduce class sizes and offer more course options while developing the master schedule. Additionally, we continue to raise funds during the current school year to support various ongoing projects.

Thank you all for your generous donations!  Below is a summary of the allocation of funds from the 2023-24 Foundation Campaign for Walton High School.

  • The Foundation paid for one full time English teacher, and a part-time business teacher (Walton’s most popular elective) for the 2023-24 school year.  These teachers impact every student at Walton by decreasing class size and offering more class options for students.
  • Next year, the Foundation anticipates funding a full time ELA teacher as well as a part time counselor.
  • The Foundation hired a commercial landscaping company to refresh the Walton High School’s campus landscaping at the start of the 2023 Fall Semester. The goal is to have the campus looking great to embrace everyone for the school year. They continue to help us throughout the school year when needs arise. Most recently we laid mulch throughout the entire campus.
  • The Foundation supports our 3 memorial gardens.
    • Beginning in the Spring, the Foundation discovered that the irrigation to the two front gardens was broken and have been working with the county to lay new irrigation.
    • After the irrigation is repaired we will continue to update the landscaping to bring a fresh and beautiful appearance to the front of our school and continue to honor those we have lost (Cara Seckman and Christine Diaz).
    • The Foundation has worked with our generous donor Leslie McLeod on the Dr. Hugh McLeod memorial garden adjacent to the cafe including working with the county to replace the memorial plaque, make some necessary repairs, lay new mulch and we will continue to help improve and maintain this important place of respite for our students.
  • We purchased hand sanitizer refills for the stations that are located throughout the campus as needed.
  • We paid the expenses to continue the Call to Conversation sessions. Call to Conversation are discussion groups among the students with administrators to discuss various issues that arise throughout the year.
  • We paid for and host the quarterly Coffee Chat with the Principal for our parents to have one on one time with our principal to have their most pressing questions answered.
  • We provided teacher/staff luncheons to support and celebrate our wonderful teachers/staff.
  • We funded various teacher grants through your Publix and Kroger rewards programs as well as a large anonymous donor. This year we funded 14 teachers during the fall semester and 12 teachers during the Spring, each receiving $500 to use on continuing education. Additionally 6 teachers received $1000 to complete their Masters or Doctorate degree this year. This advanced education is spread across multiple departments and benefits all of our students.
  • We placed a Water Bottle Fountain outside the Band room to serve the hundreds of Band and Color Guard students to stay hydrated during their long, hot outdoor practices.

Allocations for the 2022-23 School Year

However, we also raise funds during the current school year, for the current school year for the various projects listed below.
